*GABA HOPE FOR KIDS (GAHOK) - REPORT*
*Theme: TRANSFORMING LIVES*
*Date: August 27, 2026 | Location: Gaba & Wakiso, Uganda*

*1. Introduction*
Gaba Hope for Kids was founded in 2019 to transform lives of unprivileged children in Gaba slum. We now transform 208 lives daily (98 girls, 110 boys) - orphans, HIV-affected, and children from poorest families - Nursery to P.5.

*2. Lives Before GAHOK*
- No school, no food, no hope
- Begging, child labor, early marriage for girls
- Sitting at home with HIV stigma
- Sharing 1 book for 10 children

*3. How We Are Transforming Lives*

*A) Education Transformation:*
- From illiterate to reading, writing, speaking English
- 15 children from Division U to Division 2/3 this term
- 100 children just received new books and academic resources

*B) Health & Food Transformation:*
- From 1 meal a day to 2 meals + clean water at school
- From malnutrition and jiggers to healthy, dewormed children (120 dewormed)
- Girls mentorship - from shame to confidence during periods

*C) Family & Hope Transformation:*
- From hopeless to dreaming: "I want to be a doctor, teacher, pilot"
- 50 home visits transformed parents' mindset to value education
- Mothers learning soap & sweater making for income

*4. Real Stories of Transformed Lives*

*Sarah, P.3, total orphan:* Came in 2024 unable to write her name, begging in market. Today she is top 5 in class with her own 3 books. Says she wants to be a teacher.

*James, P.4, HIV-affected:* Stigmatized, always sick and absent. Now with daily feeding, counseling, and home support, he is healthy, regular in school, and wants to be a doctor to help others.

*Mothers Group:* From no income to saving group with soap project - transforming family economy.

*5. Impact - Transformation You Can See*

- 0% dropout Term 2, 2026 - lives stayed in school
- 98 girls retained - transformed from early marriage risk to educated girls
- 208 lives with 2 meals, books, love daily
- 30 children on waiting list - community sees transformation

*6. Challenges to Transforming More Lives*

1. No permanent classrooms - leaking iron sheets
2. No toilets - 208 children use bush
3. Lack of CBC textbooks
4. Few qualified teachers
5. No fence - insecurity in Gaba
6. 100% donor dependent

*7. Next Steps - Transform 600 Lives*

- Build 3 toilets $4,500 - transform dignity
- Build 2 permanent classrooms on 1-acre Wakiso land for 600 pupils Nursery-P.7
- Recruit 3 qualified teachers
- Buy more CBC textbooks
- Enroll 50 more children from waiting list

*8. Conclusion*
Transforming lives is not a slogan - it is a child who was begging now reading, a girl who was shy now leading class, a mother who was hopeless now making soap. With your support, we transformed 208 lives. Help us transform 600.
