By Marina Leadbetter | The Team behind the Project
If you are reading our project page and our reports we really appreciate that you are taking the time to read about Operation Henry and the support we provide to people who have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
We are a very small charity based in Devon, in the South West. In 2015 we decided to expand our services to the rest of the UK and also decided we would try 'CrowdFunding' to help raise funds.
It took a lot of hard work, training and a lengthy due diligence process to get to this point. Camerman Jack who is based in North Devon drove down to Thurlestone where he met Sophie, Liz and I (Marina). We spent the day chatting to Liz over cream teas (and oat biscuits for Sam!) and Jack filmed us whilst we all chatted.
It was a lovely but emotional day, and Jack managed to edit and produce the video in the space of a few days, which we were extremely grateful for.
A bit about the Team
Sophie Trinick, Charity Manager - Sophie has been working for Operation Henry for the last 5 years and looks after all the patients and families who come to us for support.
Marina Leadbetter , Head of Fundraising - Marina has been with Operation Henry since November 2015 and raises funds so that we can help every patient that comes to us for support.
Sam Foley, Member of the Executive - Sam has been with Operation Henry for the last couple of years, and has bought invaluable IT support to this project.
Liz, Volunteer - Liz lives in Scotland and came across Operation Henry in her local shopping centre. Kathy, Liz's mum, had just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was given only a few months to live. Liz wanted to do everything possible to make the final few months of her mums life amazing, fun and memorable. That's when Liz approached Operation Henry, who organised a break away for Liz and her family allowing them to spend quality time together, building memories that liz cherishes everyday.
