J's Success Story - Blossoming with Confidence

By Katha | Project Leader

J joined Ananda by Action for Autism in August 2025, and since then, we have seen her blossom beautifully with confidence and joy. At first, she approached her new workplace with curiosity and enthusiasm. She was eager to explore her surroundings and participate in different activities. With gentle physical prompts, she began following her visual schedule, completing her planned tasks and gradually gaining independence.

It is heartwarming to see her smile and even giggle during her sessions—something that was rare earlier. Initially, J found it difficult to adjust to the new environment and often preferred to sit on the sofa or leave her session area. She also used to visit the washroom frequently to avoid activities. Transitions between tasks were challenging for her, and she needed frequent reminders to return to her work. With time, patience, and consistent support, J has made remarkable progress. She now follows her schedule with confidence and takes her break as per the visual timer. When the timer rings, she independently takes her name card, walks to her schedule, and resumes her next activity. This shows her growing sense of responsibility and self-regulation.

J enjoys yoga, computer sessions, and walking. She especially loves the music session and sometimes even joins in with dance moves!

It has been a joy to watch J settle into the workplace, participate more actively, and grow more confident each day. Her journey reflects the patience, encouragement, and positivity shown by the team members.
