D is a young adult on the autism spectrum who attends the Ananda workplace on week days from 9am to 3pm. She comes in calm and happy and settles into her routine with ease. She follows her written schedule independently which helps her stay organized and move smoothly from one activity to the next. When D first joined she needed support during computer sessions. She started with typing simple sentences and gradually learned to work on Excel. With regular practice and guidance she has become more confident. Now she works independently, stays focused and completes her tasks on time. D takes part in group activities such as stitching, beading, painting cards and making decorations. Earlier she needed reminders and step by step support but now she understands the process and works more independently. She shows patience during tasks and her work is always neat and carefully done.
She is friendly with others and maintains a positive attitude in the group. D has also shown independence in real life situations. During a visit to a departmental store with other interns D prepared her own shopping list in advance and completed her shopping by herself. This reflects her growing confidence in decision making and planning skills.
Music is something D truly enjoys. She loves to sing and participates actively in music sessions. She sings with confidence and looks relaxed as well as happy. She has also performed in music concerts which shows her comfort in being part of group presentations. She also enjoyed the annual day practice with full enthusiasm. D manages her daily routine well and participates in all activities appropriately. She is comfortable in her environment and interacts positively with peers and staff. She also celebrated her birthday at the workplace which was a joyful and special moment for her.
D continues to make steady progress. With constant support and opportunities she is becoming more independent and confident. Her calm nature and dedication to work made her presence valued at the workplace.
