Step by Step: A Journey Toward Independence

By Kathakali | Project Leader

Sh’s journey has been marked by steady growth, meaningful learning, and several proud achievements. Over time, he has shown that with patience, consistent routines, and the right support, he can acquire new skills and grow increasingly independent in his work and daily activities.

Sh has gained valuable workplace exposure through multiple internships. Earlier this year, he completed an internship with Amazon, where he was introduced to basic workplace routines and expectations. He later went on to successfully complete a three-month internship with Taj SATS, during which he demonstrated good cooperation and an increasing ability to adjust to a professional environment. Following this experience, a noticeable positive change was observed—Sh became calmer, more settled, and was able to manage transitions with greater ease.

In his vocational training, Sh initially required physical prompts to begin tasks such as stitching and loom work. With regular practice, patient guidance, and  encouragement, he gradually built confidence and independence. Today, he is able to stitch mats and complete loom tasks on his own, a significant milestone that reflects his commitment to learning.

One of Sh’s strongest abilities is typing. He types independently and completes his tasks with focus and pride. This skill not only supports communication but also keeps him meaningfully engaged and motivated in his daily work.

Sh has also shown progress during group sessions. While occasional challenges remain, he is now able to recover more quickly and return to his tasks with minimal support. He continues to make small but significant gains in emotional regulation, following routines, and interacting positively with others. He particularly enjoys yoga sessions, where he participates with interest, and music time, during which he remains relaxed and fully engaged.

Sh’s journey is a powerful reminder that growth happens step by step. His dedication, combined with a nurturing and supportive environment, has helped him reach many important milestones. We are truly proud of his progress and are confident that he will continue to grow, learn, and shine even brighter in the days ahead.
