Happy Holidays from Love City Strong!

By Mae Agna | Development Director

Finishing touches on a home
Finishing touches on a home

With the 2022 hurricane season coming to an end and the new year fast approaching, this is the time when we reflect on the progress we have made, and plan for the future of our work at Love City Strong.

The Disaster Housing Recovery and Mitigation program has grown so much since 2018, when it was known as the Resilient Housing Initiative. What began as a reaction to widespread damage in the immediate aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria has developed into a more comprehensive and inclusive program to return St. John residents to safe and secure homes, with a particular focus on mitigation for future impacts.

In 2023, we will continue to adapt our services to best fit the needs of each individual or family living in compromised conditions. Our case management team is committed to working with our clients to not only guide them through the process of the LCS housing program, but to help spread awareness about other services throughout the territory they may benefit from. We feel that our flexibility and openness to change is a major reason that the Disaster Housing Recovery and Mitigation program has been so successful.

The core mission of Love City Strong is to support a more prepared St. John, with an emphasis on community resilience. Our work would not be possible without the generosity of our Board, our community partners, and of course our amazing donors. We are so grateful that you continue to choose our organization as a recipient of your support. We wish you a healthy holiday season, and a happy new year!
