In April of this year, 5 members of the USAR unit & senior staff of Empact Northwest was invited to Lake Charles, Louisiana to participate & teach at a multi-agency mock disaster drill. The disaster drill simulated search and rescue after a hurricane or other flood related disasters, which that state is susceptible to. We taught high angle rescues, simulating lowering victims from roof tops during flooding/hurricane disasters. Senior Empact team members also supervised Incident Command, giving instruction as the overall simulated Command post. We also taught an Incident Command class on the second day to community volunteers. This class will help community volunteers understand their roll in a large response & better equip the community to work with Federal, State, local agencies. We were honred to be included in this important mock disaster that included city and county agencies, as well as community volunteers with necessary resources. There were over 100 community volunteers that participated in the 2 day event.
