Exploitation in India wears many faces. It exists as forced labor, in trafficking rings, in the quiet corners where the most vulnerable are taken advantage of. Among the easiest targets are people with disabilities, those whom society too often overlooks, dismisses, and rejects. Prashant grew up in poverty nut fought his way to a better future through education. Against all odds, he achieved a degree in mechanical engineering, securing a bright future for him and his family. Then, a terrible train accident changed his entire life.

For Prashant, the loss of his arm and leg was the devastating loss of his livelihood, his future, and the path he had worked so hard for. Like so many others in his position, he found himself vulnerable, his desperation a magnet for those who would exploit it.

Although Prashant went through many dark days of hopelessness, a new path opened for him. Because of you, Prashant enrolled in our center for people with disabilities. Here, he is finding the support and learning the skills to build a new career, a second chance at a life free from the threat of poverty and exploitation.

Through physiotherapy, he is strengthening his body and restoring his mobility. Computer training is equipping him with new skills for the modern workforce, while encouragement and guidance from those who believe in his future provide him with the motivation he needs. He is also part of a community of others who are overcoming their own physical challenges. Surrounded by people who understand his journey, Prashant feels safe, supported, and motivated again.

"Here, I have discovered, that loss does not have the final word." said Prashant.

Today, he is preparing for a government entrance examination, determined to secure a job and become financially independent once more. The man who once feared he had no future is reaching for one with renewed determination.
