Your financial support helps Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue help SO many birds! From Jan 1, 2026 through early July, 2026, we took in 66 birds and helped 59 find forever homes. Over half of the intakes were cockatiels and budgies - smaller birds that the pet trade often calls "starter birds". Some people regard cockatiels and budgies as disposable when their humans' living situations change, or the birds' care needs become more expensive. Our rescue flock in total is just a little under 450 birds.
Our recent rescues include the splash of yellow pictured here. Goldie is a very yellow budgie who came as a stray to one of our shelter partners. The staff saw Goldie had a broken left leg. Because most shelters' veterinary teams are geared toward dogs and cats, the shelter called in Mickaboo.
Goldie is with one of our veterinary partners now. Your financial help will allow her to get the medical attention she needs.
