We want to begin by expressing our deep gratitude to everyone who supported our GlobalGiving Little by Little campaign last month. Your generosity has helped to provide essential care, like pain relief and IV fluids, during those critical first 24 hours post-rescue. Thank you for helping when everything hangs in the balance!
Here we are already well into April, with temperatures that never drop below 35°C—and soon we’ll be bracing for the intense heat of May, where it can soar to nearly 50°C. The cooler winter months feel like a distant memory, but during that time, some truly incredible and life-saving work was taking place—work we’re so proud to share with you.
From the end of November through to late February, we enter what we call “Puppy Season”. It begins with a flood of tiny, vulnerable, often orphaned puppies arriving in our care. Many are just days old, requiring round-the-clock attention—bottle feeding every two hours, constant warmth from hot water bottles, and the comforting presence of someone acting as their surrogate mother. It’s intensive, delicate, and deeply demanding work.
As the weeks pass, the challenges evolve. These fragile newborns grow into curious young pups who begin venturing into the world—only to face new and often harsh realities. Many suffer injuries from vehicle accidents, conflicts with adult dogs, or fall victim to serious diseases like distemper and hepatitis. Life on the streets is incredibly unforgiving, and for many puppies, survival to adulthood is far from guaranteed.
This past season alone, we admitted nearly 1,000 puppies into our care, while also providing urgent, on-the-spot street treatments to an additional 975. Behind each number is a story—of struggle, resilience, and hope.
The work is relentless. It is physically exhausting, emotionally draining, and at times heartbreaking. But it is also profoundly meaningful. Because for every life we’re able to save, every puppy that beats the odds, it reminds us exactly why we do this.
Puppies like Goli and Mika are shining examples of that hope. Against all odds, they fought, survived, and grew into healthy, happy, and loving young dogs. Today, they’re safe—and simply waiting for the final piece of their journey: a forever home.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Your support makes every rescue, every recovery, and every second chance possible.
