Every year in the middle of monsoon our Rescue Team start receiving more and more calls to rescue dogs with maggot wounds.
We become so busy rescuing and treating dogs with this type of wound that amongst our staff we call this time "Maggot Wound Season".
We admit from 10-18 dogs a day, the majority of who are suffering with large wounds that have become infested.
Because maggot wounds are so deep, they take a very long time to heal which means that our kennels soon get filled up. All the time our Rescue phone keeps ringing with more reports of badly injured dogs. We are currently receiving 70-80 calls a day to rescue sick and injured animals.
Our staff are working above and beyond to ensure that all the animals in our care are getting what they need to recover, and our vehicles are out from 8am - 11pm (often much later) to attend all the animals reported to us.
We really appreciate your support, particularly at our busiest times like this.
In July alone we have reached 2,614 animals in need – a huge achievement which we couldn’t manage without your help.
Thank You,
Clara and the whole team at TOLFA
