Dear GlobalGiving Family,
At iPartner India, we continue to witness the incredible impact your support is creating in the lives of girls who once believed their futures had already been decided for them. Through your compassion and commitment, many young girls are now choosing education, dignity, and independence over exploitation and silence.
Today, we would like to share the inspiring story of Rukmini (name changed), a young girl from a small village in Sawai Madhopur, who dared to challenge deeply rooted social norms and fight for her right to education and freedom.
Rukmini is currently pursuing the second year of her bachelor’s degree, but reaching this stage was far from easy. She comes from a community where girls are often viewed as a source of income rather than individuals with dreams and aspirations. Before she turned 18, her parents forcefully arranged her marriage. Despite being young and afraid, Rukmini refused to remain silent.
When her family did not listen to her objections, she took a courageous step that changed her life forever. She sought help from her school teacher and wrote a letter to the District Collector, asking for support to stop the child marriage. As a result, her parents were left with no choice but to cancel the marriage.
The decision, however, came with immense emotional and social consequences. Her father had already sold family land in preparation for the wedding, and after the marriage was stopped, Rukmini had to face blame, criticism, and backlash from both her family and community. Yet even during those difficult moments, she held firmly onto her belief that her life could be different.
With the support of iPartner India and generous donors like you, Rukmini was enrolled in a boarding school in Grade 11, where she found not only access to education but also safety, encouragement, and hope. Slowly, she began rebuilding her confidence and became a role model for other girls in her community who had never imagined they could choose education over early marriage.
Today, Rukmini dreams of becoming an Indian Police Services (IPS) officer. She wants to serve the nation and work towards protecting and empowering girls from vulnerable communities like her own. She believes that no girl should have to fight alone for her rights and freedom.
Every day, Rukmini expresses gratitude for the support she has received. She often says that iPartner India and the GlobalGiving family gave “fuel to her dreams” at a time when everything around her was trying to silence them.
On behalf of Rukmini and countless girls like her, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the GlobalGiving family for standing beside vulnerable girls and believing in their potential. Your support is not just helping girls continue their education — it is helping them reclaim their voices, protect their rights, and build futures filled with dignity, courage, and hope.
Together, we continue to challenge cycles of exploitation, child marriage, and inequality, ensuring that more girls can dream freely and live safely.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Team iPartner India
