The bills are coming in as fast as we rescue

Hello Supporters!

I am reaching out today with a heavy heart and a sense of desperation. Our rescue team is facing an unprecedented financial crisis, and I truly need your help to continue our life-saving work. This email is not easy to send, but I need the help our compassionate supporters, in this time of need to get us back on track and I really believe we will do it together.

The Situation

As many of you may have noticed, we’ve been playing catch up in most of our updates lately. The truth is, we’ve been fighting to stay afloat behind the scenes and after the last few appeals and reports we have had some really amazing donations come in from you, these have allowed us to pay off the vet bills and dog food suppliers to keep them coming but it is just plugging a gap.

Our team has been working tirelessly to care for the 108 animals currently in our care and to continue our outreach in the impoverished communities we serve, but we are running on empty—financially, emotionally, and physically. Every day, we are confronted with the heartbreaking reality of abandoned, abused, and neglected animals who urgently need our help, and our team have kept rescuing as they can't say no. We know that donations have taken a significant drop and we have worked to develop our program for 2025, we will sadly do less surgeries but will do more outreach, we also will be partnering with other centres to help with rescues and while these plans look promosing we are stuck with huge debts we would love to clear before the end of this year.

What We Need

Right now, we are facing a critical shortfall of  around 207,150.79 (Around 11,500USD). This amount includes:

  • Vet bills: R90,570.96
  • Dog food: R81,251.90
  • Electricity bill (Eskom): R44,352.25
  • Vehicle repairs: R16,698.92
  • Lucifer’s surgery: R11,227.15
  • Clinic costs: R4,585
  • Medications (e.g., Dazzle Dip): R1,965

The photo above is of Lucifer, our proud ambassador and incredibly loving pitball that has been at our rescue centre for many years now, he was rushed in with a tumor and needs life saving surgery, we can't give up on him he has such a happy sole.

I know times are tough for many, especially with the holidays approaching. But if we don’t raise the funds we urgently need, we will not be able to start the New Year with a clean slate. We cannot allow these animals to suffer because we are unable to meet our financial obligations and we hope you can help us fundraise and share our project as together I really believe we can get back on track. It also comes at a great time with all donations made next Tuesday for #givingtuesday will be matched by GlobalGiving and means we can do even more to getting back on track.

I am sorry for the long report but thank you for taking the time to read and support us, you really are amazing!

Thanks,
