Whilst violence continues to wreak havoc on the lives of many people in Democratic Republic of Congo, your support means that our local partner can continue working for peace, and save more child soldiers.
So far this year, with the help of over 120 volunteers, CRC have helped bring peace to the lives of more children. They have carried out 17 negotiations with armed groups. Without their local knowledge and understanding, they would not be able to carry out these negotiations, which are crucial to ensuring the release of children.
Following the negotiation of their release, CRC has found foster families for 25 children, and reunited a further 21 children with their families. They have also hosted sessions to educate the children’s communities on what they might have been through, and the difficulties they might face adjusting to normal life again. This gives children the best chance of a peaceful return to their communities, for good.
One parent commented, ‘’I had a hard time talking to my children about their experiences. But after their demobilisation, and having attended sessions with CRC, it wasn’t so difficult. CRC helped a great deal’’.
Your support is giving children a peaceful future, for good.
