Thank You for Rescuing Rohingya Refugee Families!

By Meghan Gallagher | Content Writer

You gave them emergency supplies! Thank you!
You gave them emergency supplies! Thank you!

Your gift showed desperate moms and little ones that you care and that they are not alone. You answered the call for help and your gift is already aiding grateful families!

When Rohingya villages were attacked a few months ago, most of the men were killed… So moms and little ones are the survivors of this crisis.

You provided shelter from the chaos, disease, and the rain that turned dirt and sewage to muddy rivers all around them. Thank YOU!

And your gift is what they desperately needed! Two-year-old Konis was a typical toddler – learning to walk, talk, and exploring her surroundings in her home village in Myanmar. Then, one horrible day, everything changed. Little Konis didn’t know what was happening, but she knew her parents were scared. Children sense fear. That fear turned to terror as her mom scooped her into her arms and ran for her life.

Sadly, two of Konis’s siblings were killed as they fled. “We had to flee because they burned down our houses… They were also shooting,” recalled Konis’s traumatized mom, Unia. “We wanted to save our lives, so we came here. But two of our children did not make it. It took 4 days walking. Then we took a boat to cross the river. We could not bring anything on the boat. Even the few extra clothes we brought, we had to leave behind.”

Konis, along with her only surviving sister and parents, arrived in a Bangladesh refugee camp with nothing. Then, World Concern staff showed up and delivered your gift of emergency supplies.

Thanks to you, Konis and her mom received practical help and hope!
