Project Report | Sep 15, 2025
From Vision to Action

By Kateryna Zlatina | Fundraising Coordinator

In 2023, with the support of several volunteer organizations, residents of Novohryhorivka renovated one of the few surviving buildings in the village and opened a youth center there. Today, the space operates on a daily basis and serves more than 100 local children, offering them opportunities to socialize through cultural and creative activities.

However, due to limited resources, the exterior of the building was left unrepaired and still bears visible traces of shelling. In addition, the basic furniture provided, such as chairs and tables that are over 20 years old, has become unsuitable for further use.

Over the past two months, we have made significant progress in fundraising for the restoration process, collecting more than 2,000 USD. This allows us to begin the initial stage of renovation. Importantly, our approach goes beyond simply raising funds: we actively engage local community members in the restoration work. Under the supervision of the Legal Development Network, a local working group was created, bringing together residents of Novohryhorivka from across generations, ranging from youth under 20 to community elders around 60 years old.

Together, this group has developed a three-phase restoration plan. We have already initiated the first stage of work. Since the weather still permits outdoor construction, our priority is to complete the exterior repairs. Procurement of materials for this stage has begun, and we will continue to keep you updated on each step of progress.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all donors and supporters who have made this stage possible. Your contributions not only provide the resources for physical restoration but also inspire the local community to actively take part in rebuilding a safe and welcoming space for the youth of Novohryhorivka.
