In Aparis Village, Kumi District, families drink from stagnant ponds shared with animals. 5 of our 6 boreholes are broken. Children walk 5km for dirty water. Diarrhea, typhoid and skin infections are killing children every day. In Aparis Village, our mothers still drink from ponds with animals. Majority of the people drinking from dirty ponds.
Aparis Village faces chronic water scarcity. Boreholes are 20 years old, hand pumps are broken, spare parts are missing. In the dry season, it gets worse - ponds dry up completely Result: 33 children die every day in Uganda from diarrhea. Girls miss school to fetch water. Families spend money boiling water with expensive charcoal, or drink it raw. .
We are a village solution, not an outside contractor. All work is done by local people. We buy materials in Kumi. $15 gives clean water to 1 family for a year. $200 repairs a borehole for 300 people. We already repaired 1 borehole in July 2026 - hours-long walks became 5-minute walks. With your help we will repair 5 more.
Clean water changes everything. Health improves, children stay in school, grandmothers save 3 hours daily. In 12 months, we aim to restore all boreholes in Aparis and train 5 committees to maintain them for 10 years. This is not just a filter - it is dignity, health and hope for the whole village Repairing 5 boreholes gives 1,500+ people safe water within 500m. No more pond water. Diarrhea cases drop by 60%. Families save money on charcoal and medicine. Girls return to school.
