Community walk to see repaired Borehole, new Joy!

Dear Donor,

Thanks to the continued support of our donors, our team has been busy on the ground in Kumi, Uganda, working to restore reliable access to clean water. Over the past reporting period, we focused on sourcing spare hand-pump parts / dispatching local technicians / replacing broken rods and cylinders] to bring malfunctioning water points back to life. Instead of relying on outside contractors, our local community-led approach ensures that repairs are fast, sustainable, and directly managed by people who understand the local water table.

Thank you for standing with us as we bring clean, safe water closer to families in Kumi, Uganda! Because of your ongoing support through GlobalGiving, our local team has continued fixing broken boreholes and cutting down hours-long daily walks into a simple 5-minute trip. In this reporting period, your contributions directly funded local technicians, replacement hand pump parts, and site evaluations to ensure clean water keeps flowing for hundreds of villagers.”

Recent Activities & Progress!

Last month - October 2026, our community-led team sourced repair materials locally in Kumi, including new hand pump components, rods, pipes, and cement headworks. We mobilized local technicians to inspect sites, replace worn-out machinery, and test the water to confirm it is safe for drinking. Instead of relying on distant, contaminated ponds or broken pumps, community members now have a dependable local water source that serves roughly 300 villagers per repaired borehole.

A Story from the Community!

For mothers and schoolgirls in the village, a fixed borehole means freedom. As one local mother shared: 'Before the repair, my daughters had to wake up before sunrise and walk miles to fetch water, which made them late for school. Now, we get clean water right here in the village in minutes, and the children have time to rest and study.' Stories like this happen because you chose to invest in local solutions.

Impact on lives!

For families in the target village, a broken borehole means hours spent walking to distant, unsafe water sources. With the repairs completed on [insert date or general timeframe], the daily routine has transformed. [Insert a short quote or story, e.g., Mama Grace, a local resident, shared that what used to be a grueling 2-hour daily search for water is now a 5-minute walk to a clean, functioning hand pump. Children can now get to school on time [and mothers have peace of mind knowing the water is safer for their households

Summary!

Direct Impact: Approximately  300+ community members / families now have daily access to clean drinking water.

Next Steps: Our immediate goal is to mobilize resources for our next scheduled repair phase, focusing on the next second borehole or community in need. We have repaired one out of 6, 5 remaining.

We are deeply grateful for your generosity—every contribution directly translates into healthier families and a stronger community. Stay tuned for our next update!

Thank You!

Looking ahead, we are gearing up to repair our next scheduled borehole and reach even more families who are still waiting. We cannot thank you enough for making clean water a reality here in Kumi. Please share our project with your friends or consider an extra gift as we keep the momentum going!
