There are mountains that do not meet

ALS High School graduation preparation
Since the change of public administration in the center there are now more than a year, activities have been increased and diversified. The handover took a lot of effort, but ultimately it was a blessing in disguise. The human rights of the children are now respected and better understood. The city team is more motivated and more attentive to the children and their problems.
With the help of partners, sponsors and volunteers involved, we were able to provide services to children including the issues of food, hygiene, medical, housing and education and we must keep it that way . Obviously we can improve but needed resources become consistent and help arrives in a trickle. Our team of volunteers is to organize and develop a team of fundraisers to provide future resources to meet their incoming needs. Unfortunately the number of street children who are cared for at the center does not decrease and sometimes we can reach 80 children per day, which generates logistical problem because the center is capable of and planned for 50 of them.
Staff should be sufficient to support them but the buildings and infrastructure could be renovated as the center was originally built to house a hundred children, but now half of premises and equipment are out of state. We are hopeful of being able to repair and reuse all again. Let's do it!
Of course, apart from the obvious problems of resources and logistics that our approach generates, there is not a day when the joy and hope are surrounding us. These children have so much to teach us and their courage and imagination sometimes leave us speechless!
Kids love school, it seems incredible isn't it? They are well aware that being good at school is certainly an asset and hope to make their future better. Now ALS (Alternative Learning School) is 3 times a week, so most of them can participate regardless of their age or level ... A big thank you to our teachers to adapt to them. Come on, after class, some little physical exercises and why not a bit of some skill learning as well? Some kids love Capoeira and are so keen to progress that they have created and developed their own movements ... teachers did not believe it! Who better than them can really understand the spirit of Capoeira, an art born and created in Brazil by slaves at that time.
One of the most unusual activities remains the chess ... when Philip and Marvin, two experts in chess, came six months ago at the center to conduct sessions with the children.
Many people thought it might be too complicated to them and they would not be interested neither... and they could not do it. They are wrong, in addition to the values they were taught by their teachers, some of them have developed an acute sense of strategic chess games ... impressive! You do not believe it? So please come over and play with them and therefore try to beat them if you can :)
In a brief, improvements made also in the center, the establishment of a bamboo fence is a success! Creating a vegetable garden and a flower garden has simply sublimated the center. We are done with waste of undeveloped spaces, now the center looks like a real little friendly farm :)
Work for water treatment is ongoing and the replacement of water supply system is about to be complete! Waste water management class are being conducted by a Japanese NGO (Ikaw-Ako).
Well, what else to say than a big BRAVO to our sponsors, friends, partners, volunteers for these steps we franchised all together successfully. Despite the difficulties, the work goes on and a lot of passion and hope for children who are waiting to become gifted adults. Do not forget the quote of the moment: There are only mountains that do not meet.
Thank you Global Giving's donors for your inconditional supports and helps !!!
