Thanks to the emergency help provided by friends through GlobalGiving, relief for 660 families affected by Ockhi cyclone in Kanyakumari District was started by VOICE Trust and the local colloborator WEEDS Organisation.
Big promises had been made by the Central and State Governments. But, many families in Ockhi cyclone area are suffering without help from for return to normalcy. The 660 families are from tribal communities. They are voiceless and vulnerable sections in society. That is why, VOICE Trust joined with WEEDS NGO for extending emergency relief with your help through GlobalGiving. Lot more has to be done for these 660 Ockhi cylone affected families. We seek your immediate help for extending further supports to them. Kindly send your help to GlobalGiving and we will extend appropriate services for the empowerment of tribals in Ockhi cyclone areas.
In the meantime, we had a discussion with some these tribal families. They want to start bee keeping both for their livelihood and for biodiversity enhancement. VOICE Trust has informed WEEDS NGO that we can prepare a special project after hearing from friends and supporters who want to help Ockhi cyclone families through GlobalGiving. Please respond if you are willing to help tribal people in bee keeping project. They have welcomed you to visit their area. VOICE Trust and WEEDS will join with you for this emergency support project.
