Things change

By Ian Wilson | Director

Well, we have to move with the times.  After more than 30 years of helping rescue, rehabilitate and reintegrated street connected children through a combination of street outreach, drop in centre, mobile school and rescue centre, we have made a decision to hand over most of these operations to several other organisations who have come to join our operations in recent years and whose work has impressed us.  We do not want a situation where children are playing off one organisation against the other thus delaying their return home, so we have been divesting certain parts of our operations with a view to fully handing overost of this work by mid 2026.

So, what will happen to us?  We have seen a lot of interest from organisations to work with younger children (ie under  14) but very little help is available for teens and youths.  We therefore will be increasing our efforts in working with teens and youths, including teen mothers.  So, 2026 will see an increase in this work.  We have piloted a number of programs in the last few years with this age group and they have been more successful than we ever could have hoped.  So, watch this space!  And thank you for your support!
