Our Efforts - Mangrove Protection Groups, Mangrove Sensitive Communities

By Team Comunications | Sabuj Sangha

Nature’s fury is the unending destiny for the remote coastal and riverine villages of Sundarbans. Series of cyclones, heavy rainfall, massive land loss is almost synonymous when we utter the word – Sunderbans.

In such situation our efforts for rehabilitating the impacted people has become an integral part of our major activities. We carried on our efforts for building Climate Resilience among them by consistent awareness and plantation drives through them- resulting creation of Mangrove Sensitive Communities and Mangrove Protection Groups.

We have also embedded such activities with the perception of Holistic Village Development as it is an inevitable necessity for facing and combating the drastic natural changes in terms of geography, pattern of forestry etc. with fast Climate Change and Damaging Nature’s Fury.

APPEAL

Our efforts are prolonged and consistent one which gradually will have a long term contribution in the ecology of the Sundarbans – The World Heritage Site.

But strong possibilities are there of future sudden and frequent cyclones or heavy showers that may have deeper and sudden impacts among these vulnerable marginalised communities.

So we need to have more penetrating wide reaching actions to make the Resilience stronger.

WE APPEAL TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS NOT ONLY TO EXTEND SUPPORTS BUT ALSO STAND BY US AND CONVEY THE MESSAGES OF OUR NEEDS IN WIDER COMMUNITIES.
