Buddha Jayanti is significant festival celebrated by Buddhists worldwide marking the birth, enlightment and death of Buddha popularly known as Gautam Buddha. It is celebrated on full moon day of the first month, Baisakh, of Nepali calendar. During this festival people gather at Stupas and Monasteries and Buddhist temples to light butter lamps, offer prayers and participate in religious ritual.
On 1st of May 2026, our teachers along with children with disabilities went to visit Nagbaha, a place where tomorrow's Buddha Jayanti festival is going to happen and a lot of preparation was happening. There was a huge status of Lord Buddha. The place were very well decorated with colorful lantern, flowers, fluttering Buddhist prayer flags, candles for the Buddha Jayanti. The atmosphere was clam and busy. All children were very excited and worshipped the lord Buddha. They enjoyed with a lot of happiness. Buddhists Monk came to worship and began the day with special prayer and ritual.
While visiting, suddenly, we encountered one of the members of Patan CBR who became a Buddhists Monk. All student were very happy and surprised to see her in that dress. One of her friends said that “I have heard that you have done a great job in Patan CBR Organization and children are lovely. You are all doing great work for the organization. All Children were so good and friendly”. They capture all beautiful moment with children with disabilities. We were having a good time with all. Children visited all around place, the place was decorated like bride for tomorrow when thousands are going to gather and march to commemorate the day of Buddha's birth, coming from more than 40 places of the city.
They received blessing and worshipped there. They toured the whole place. They saw full decoration to celebrate of Buddha Jayanti. The day was enjoyable and amazing for everyone. Spending time with our children with disabilities was a wonderful experience and created good memories.
