Society for Help Entire Lower and Rural People (HELP) in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, is working with children of women in prostitution in 4 red-light areas of Guntur District since 2005 for prevention of second generation to be trafficked. In the past 15 years, HELP has provided 270+ girls and 172 boys with education, extracurricular activities, and career guidance. nearly 75% these children get good opportunists outside of the prostitution. now these children get employment in various sectors.
The various aspects of the lives of sex-workers children include living conditions and surrounding environment, health, school and psychological conditions. Areas of prostitution are not only places where men go to buy sex. They are also places where all generations live together, where children play, work, study and grow up. The closest role model for a female child is her mother who is either a sex worker or a brothel keeper. if the male child will be dragged into pimping and procuring.
The Drop in centre will map the children of sex workers residing in the prostitution localities to ensure care of children, and preparing the children for regular education, ensuring regularity of children, health care, protecting children from abuse and any further exploitation. Even the drop in centre can take care of elderly children in the evenings, when there mothers go out on profession. These vulnerable children will initial care and support for their survival in the long run.
We hope our efforts of continuity of sex workers children education prevents second generation prostitution by promoting education, Life skills for their sustainable livelihood for these girls. This project will support 100 Girls in the 4 red-light areas of Guntur District for their higher education and vocational training for their sustainable employment and build their pressure to their mothers to come out the prostitution and live in the mainstream society with dignity.
