Rehabilitate 370 Prisoners in Trichy, India

We have a good news to share in the start of this year. As you know, we have been trying hard to mobilise resources to conduct trainings to the inmates of the women prison. During the last quarter we mobilised $91.83 from global giving and from Innerwheel Club in Trichy. With this money New Life decided to start the training on making kundan jewelery(It is the jewelery made of artificial kundan stones).

It was also decided to use the resources, instruments and raw materials New Life already have to make good the shortfall in resources for the training. The training was started on December 30th, 2015. It will conducted for 15 days. The trainees were selected on the crieteria, that they should be discharged within a year of the training. This will help them to start their micro venture that gives them a livelihood option.     

Mrs. Seetha (name changed) is now inside the prison. When asked why she is there she said, "I was a school headmistress. One of my friends met me with another person one day. That man told me if my school teachers and friends can join the chit he is running, they will gain much. After his repeated attempts, I referred this man to my friends and school teachers. They gave money to this chit. One day this man absconded. And during enquiry people told that I introduced the chit person to them. And now I am inside the prison for the fault of referring an unknown person. hmmmm...its all my fate".

There are inmates like Seetha, who are inside for no fault of them or for unknowingly getting into some plots. These women are being trained by us and gain confidence to face the world once they get discharged. The donations you give help us train these people and change their lives.
