Viji (name changed) is in Women's Special Prison, Trichy. She is life sentenced as she murdered her husband.
Yes, Viji killed her husband! Viji entered her husband's home with lots of dreams after marriage. But she was beaten by her drunkurd husband everyday. He used abusive words. She was blaming her destiny and was distressed. When she could not drag on anymore she went to her brothers and complained about the brutality of her husband. Her brothers got angry and fought with her husband. The husband abused her brothers too and Viji was much annoyed. She lost her control and beat her husband. In her outrage she killed him and realised that only after some time. She got arrested, life sentenced and spending her youth in prison. Anger in that spur of the moment spoiled her entire life.
New Life trained Viji in tailoring and she could stich blouses and skirts now. She now has the confidence that she can earn her living once she goes out.
Women like Viji, who commit crimes on the spur of a moment or for safeguarding themselves or because of poverty are spending their time aimlessly inside the prison. The trainings given by New Life for developing their skills motivate them, give them hope and once they go out they get integrated with the community.
We thank you dear donors for helping these women to lead a normal life once they get out of the prison. The trainings you support increase their skill and confidence, the counselling given by the staff help them to face the community with courage. All this is possible only because of the continued support you give and we request you to spread words about this project to your dear and near ones.
With thanks and regards
