Challenge

In Juayua, El Salvador, decades of conventional farming have degraded soil across the region, leaving smallholder farmers with declining yields and limited income. Many families in these rural communities also lack reliable access to fresh, nutritious food. Farmers here have few opportunities to learn regenerative techniques that could restore their land, and no direct market connecting them to buyers for the produce they do grow. This project addresses both the land and the farmers who depend o

Solution

MurphsLife Foundation operates Casa Conejo, a 46-acre regenerative farm near Juayua, where local farmers receive hands-on training in regenerative agriculture techniques. Farmers learn to restore degraded soil, establish edible and native plant systems, and grow crops sustainably. Once trained, farmers connect to AgroMercado, our farm-to-market platform, giving them a direct channel to sell surplus produce and build lasting income from their land.

Long-Term Impact

Over time, Casa Conejo aims to become a self-sustaining model of regenerative agriculture that other communities in El Salvador can replicate. As more farmers are trained, degraded land across the region can be restored to productive, income-generating use. Farmers gain lasting skills and market access through AgroMercado, reducing dependence on outside aid. Long term, this creates a resilient local food system and a pipeline of trained regenerative farmers who can mentor the next generation.
