World Cancer Day - 2020 marks the midway point of the 3-year 'I Am and I Will' campaign. 'I Am and I Will' is an empowering call-to-action urging for personal commitment and represents the power of individual action taken now to impact the future in cancer control program.
Nellai cancer care center a project of Udhavum Ullangal, a registered public charitable Trust was founded in 2000 with a focus on Education, Health and Skill Development training.
In Tirunelveli, NCCC has so far conducted free 1,650 cancer screening camps over the last 8 years and created awareness for 1,50000 people, screened 36500 and supported 447 cancer patients and 100 cancer patients on palliative care.
NCCC is networking with Government and Non-Governmental organizations in the southern districts and conducts community-based cancer screening through Population based screening approach. We are closely working with the Public health department.
India is going through rapid demographic, environmental and lifestyle related transitions. This has resulted into significant transitions in magnitude and pattern of diseases across the country. There is an upsurge in non-communicable diseases (NCDs) including heart diseases, chronic lung diseases, cancer and diabetes. 60% of deaths are caused by NCDs in India.
We have setup up a Rural Wellness Resource Centre in Mukkudal for the Bedi workers to comprehensively work on the overall development of the community health and cancer in particular among the beedi workers. The resource centre is holistically designed to promote rural wellness by linking health, education and economy. This project will scale up our outreach to remote villages with our trained and skilled health workers who are also Bedi workers children.

# 24 Free cancer screening camps in 24 villages.
# Launch of Eluvom program with VMSSS, Valliyoor, TSS & TMSS.
# 15 Awareness for colleges with NGOs, Rotary and Lions clubs.
# Cancer awareness campaign with procession in Mukkudal on 5th February.
# Awareness campaign on 7th February with St.Xaviers college.
