2017 was an amazing year for UBECI. With your help, we exceeded our fundraising goal of $15000, with 179 individual donations and 7 monthly donors. All of your donations went directly to supporting our Play, Learn and Do project, supporting over 600 market children with school supplies, playtime, and structured learning activities.
Our December Christmas Campaign was a great success. We provided presents to over 300 market children, and Santa Claus himself came to visit! Having such a wonderful holiday experience was really special for all the kids, and each personal gift goes a long way to develop them into confident, happy individuals.
UBECI is looking for more sponsors this year, as we have had support from many places but money is always an issue for NGOs in Ecuador. We have been working in the community for 19 years, but to continue our operations and reach as many children as possible we need ongoing support. If you know of any school organizations, clubs, groups, or individuals who are interested in fundraising or volunteering, please share our organization with them and send us an email at ubeci.ecuadorianstreetchildren@gmail.com.
For 2018, UBECI has updated our GlobalGiving goal to $20000. This new goal would continue our Play, Learn and Do project, and also enable us to take the first steps to establish a permanent facility where the children can learn new skills, try new activities, grow as individuals, and freely express themselves. UBECI Home would be comprised of six individual rooms with a diversity of activities tailored for various age groups. Some of the activities would include school support, cultural lessons, arts and crafts, music lessons, and educational workshops. The goal of UBECI Home is to turn the 300 street children that only occasionally attend the UBECI Play, Do, & Learn program into regular attendees at UBECI Home.
