We are now in full motion for Arbor Day 2014. Our Task Force is meeting, sponsors are chipping in, volunteers are registering and our Youth Management Team is juggling the logistics, with support from the staff. Our very own (Youth Manager and Board Member) Samantha Cano serves on the Task Force and shared: “We are working hard now, in collaboration with the City of El Segundo and our partners, so that on March 8th people will have lots of fun getting their hands in the dirt and showing their love for our trees.”
There are many ways one can get involved: from being part of our leadership team as a Youth Planting Supervisor or an Adult Partner (tip: there are orientation and training days coming up!), to making a donation or volunteering for the day of.
Arbor Day is a unique opportunity for everyone to give back not only to the local community through our urban forest, but to build a greener planet for all. The 110+ trees living on Grand Avenue in El Segundo will absorb air pollution, reduce erosion and - as shown in so many studies - provide relaxation to people walking around.
