Since January this year RedR has been working in Islamabad to recruit and train a team of national staff to deliver a learning and development program to support the humanitarian response following the upsurge in violent conflict in Pakistan.
Working closely with international NGOs, institutional donors, the UN and the Government of Pakistan, RedR has conducted a needs assessment to identify skills gaps within the humanitarian community. Based on the outcome of this research, we have designed a learning and development program to deliver training in security management, coordination of humanitarian activities and humanitarian principles and practice.
In parallel, the team has also been setting up a training facility in Islamabad which has been used to host training facilitated by the Overseas Development Institute. A programme open day is to be held on July 8 to allow aid staff in Islamabad to network with the capacity building team. The full RedR training program will get underway on July 15.
