Report on the Recycle Waste for Literacy in Uganda

By Mago Hasfa | Project Lead

The Recycle Waste for Literacy Fundraising Campaign is a winning climate conservation project we are aspiring to implement in the second quarter of 2026. As a literacy focused organisation, we believe sustainable actions against climate change begins with teaching young minds to build a strong foundation for driving positive pro-climate behaviors, developing green skills, and nurturing the spirit of conservation among the future generation of conservationists. By providing this knowledge, and skills, this project will help learners to learn the causes and impacts of climate change, and it will equip them with innovative skills of waste recycling and its importance in reducing green gas emissions and environmental pollution, and conserving natural resources such as forests which are vital in sequestering carbon dioxide.

While we have only been able to raise $42 out of $30,000 for the ‘Recycle Waste for Literacy’ Campaign, it is within our organisation ethos that we take this chance to express our deepest appreciation for your donation towards our environmental cause. Your early donation inspires others to donate, and thus far, we thank you for supporting our cause to nurture the next generation of conservation leaders in Uganda. On a daily, Uganda and Ugandans discard approximately 600 metric tons of plastic waste which amounts to over 219,000 – 220,000 tons of plastic waste that ends up in our environment. At the same time, 1-3 thirds of waste discarded in the environment is uncollected. Unfortunately, the uncollected waste ends up in the streets, our compounds and waterways during surface runoff, and heavy downpours. The effects for this are the increasing reports of water pollution, sea mammal suffocation, and death, water-borne diseases, and flooding due to drainage channel blockages to mention a few. Therefore, we acknowledge your support will go along way in helping us to alleviate these dangers, by uprooting the indifferent behaviors of poor waste disposal in our communities.

Once more, please accept our honest appreciation for your donation to our on-going ‘Recycle Waste for Literacy in Uganda - #68495. We pledge to be faithful, and accountable in the use of your donations.

Thank you,
