Reconnecting fragmented rainforest for orangutans

Imagine a devoted orangutan mother reaching the edge of her forest home, her baby clinging to her back. Beyond lies a gap – cleared land that separates her from the larger forest where she can see frut trees to feed her young. She cannot cross.

This is the heartbreaking reality of forest fragmentation in Sumatra.

But this Wednesday, July 16th, you can help reconnect these broken landscapes.

Through GlobalGiving's July Bonus Day, your gift of US$100 (or your currency equivalent) or more will be matched, increasing your power to heal the fragmented forests that have torn orangutan families apart.

Your matched donation creates connections:

  • Building green corridors that link isolated forest patches
  • Establishing wildlife bridges that allow mothers and babies to safely cross between forest areas
  • Reuniting separated communities so orangutans can find mates and food

When forests are connected, orangutan mothers no longer have to choose between safety and survival. They can access the full range of their ancestral territory, teaching their young to navigate a landscape of hope rather than barriers.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us weave these fragments back together. And on Wednesday, every donation works harder.

Matching starts at 10 a.m. EDT (3 p.m. BST) on Wednesday, July 16th, and lasts for 24 hours.

The impact of your donation will be even greater this Wednesday, so please consider donating this July Bonus Day.
