Pakistan has been hit badly by floods in the last 71 years. This is primarily due to a lack of a proper disaster risk management mechanism. Flooding not only wipes away all the settlements and life’s possessions of people but also drains away all the hope by damaging their means of living. Apart from the short term impacts, flooding has long term impacts which continue to last for decades. For example, the floods that took place in the year 2000 and 2010 still negatively affect the lives of the residents.
We, at Fatima Memorial Hospital (FMH), have been working towards helping as many flood victims as possible within our available resources. FMH in collaboration with NUR Foundation not only provided assistance in terms of basic necessities but also ensured that the flood victims are provided education. FMH established a school in the flood ravaged area of Dera Ghazi Khan in Habit Mastui, a small village in the district to do their bit by providing education to the children who has been affected the most by the tragedy of flooding.
FMH continues its mission even today by reconstructing the villages and making endless efforts to re-establish the affected areas by providing education and basic necessities to the victims. The primary goal of NUR-FMH is to serve the community and one way of doing it is by helping the flood victims.
There are still a large number of people who continue to suffer from the negative consequences of flooding and we at FMH and NUR Foundation depend on the generous donations of our esteemed donors.
Therefore, we call on all of you to donate as much as you can and help us rebuild homes and develop schools in the flood hit areas and eventually give birth to hope in the hearts of the flood victims.
Thank you.
