Rebuild the lives of 5000 Typhoon Haiyan survivors

Dear Friends,

First, I would like to thank all of our very generous supporters who have helped our project in 2014 and I would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a great 2015.

Last December, The Philippines was again hit by another powerful typhoon, luckily it was not as strong as Haiyan and people were far better prepared. As we begin 2015, our attention remains on the response to the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan. The rehabilitation efforts continue to assist in the recovery of the survivors and some projects are focusing on Children. Children are among those worst affected by a disaster, and among the most vulnerable after.

KI volunteers, Al-minah Solaiman and Rohaidah Dimapinggun are working with Eastern Visayas Network of NGO’s and PO’s, Inc. (EVNet) based in Tacloban City. They are assisting with a project on Child-Centered Disaster Risk Reduction Management which is being supported by United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The Project will provide a proper knowledge and increase the awareness of the Haiyan survivors in responding to calamities.
Rohaidah and Al-mina will be the focus persons at EVNet who will ensure the implementation of the project. The volunteers will be involved in conducting seminars, training & workshops related to the project.

 The Eastern Visayas Network of NGOs and POs (EVNet) is composed of thirty (30) organizations operating in the islands of Leyte, Samar and Biliran. EVNet members have been actively engaged in the response to Typhoon Haiyan in Samar and Leyte.
