Progressing reconstruction of school building

By Bishnu Bhatta | Director

We are happy to report about our progressing reconstruction of a school building for the Mahendra Lila Higher Secondary School in Nawalpur, Gorkha. As we already mentioned in earlier report regarding schools and their surrounding environment. At the moment; Students, teachers and communities are waiting to see their hope comes true.

Despite having many problems such as roads impaired by rain and landslides, it’s delaying our activities even we completed four rooms with the support of many community members. We could make progress and the students are cheerfully watching their school developing.   Beside that we have volunteers to help the community.

We are delighted with the completion of the school reconstruction projects in which targeted different schools of the earthquake affected areas before the arrival of the monsoon season in Nepal. Despite having different difficulties throughout the year we are able to accomplish our projects thus creating favorable educational scenario in the affected schools within a year of the devastating earthquake. After the construction of the school buildings the concerned schools have started the regular classes in the earthquake resistant buildings in a smooth manner.

After the completion of the school buildings, new hopes aroused in the school family and the community benefited. These schools have started classes in the new buildings. This has eased the teaching learning activities of the school thus bringing happiness in the entire locality. The yearlong   dependency on TLCS has ended. Students are excited to go to the school and we too are excited with the words of praise for this noble cause from the school family and the community for our efforts.

Having said that we have still to focus on our communities where they deprive from sound health and good environment too. PSD Nepal always worried about Schools and communities  and  has decided to support these communities till they feel better and now focus on their health such as; personal hygiene, drinking water and illness whether it is physical or mental. So, PSD Nepal has already sent 14 volunteers in this community to help them using their skills. Our volunteers have different kinds of skills, which are helpful to make our community better because they are from different backgrounds such as health, construction, teaching and social science. As a result, they are helping to build toilets and drinking water facilities.  In addition, they taught in the schools, share their knowledge within the community   and help them try to rid off from trauma.

At last, it was really an exciting and motivating moment for us when we go through our project and its achievements after the devastating earthquake and its aftermaths. The praise for our help from the entire communities and the beneficiaries have always dragged our attention for the further projects alike.
