Since our last report, there have been no major changes in terms of construction progress of Good Hope Infant School. However, the commitment, resilience, and determination of the community remain as strong as ever. We continue to move forward with hope, but we urgently need additional support to take the next critical steps.
Good Hope Infant School continues to stand as a beacon of hope for young children in our community, providing early childhood education in a community where access to quality learning is limited. A significant milestone has already been achieved with the successful acquisition of land for a permanent school facility. This remains a crucial foundation for the future we are working to build a safe, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment for every child.
Despite the lack of funding, the local community has not stood still. Parents and volunteers are continuing their grassroots efforts by making handmade bricks using locally available materials. These bricks are being carefully molded, dried, and prepared for firing in traditional kilns to ensure they are strong enough for construction.
This ongoing initiative demonstrates not only resourcefulness but also the deep value the community places on education. It has helped reduce potential costs and strengthened a sense of ownership and pride in the project. Even without financial progress, the community’s spirit remains a powerful driving force.
While the community’s efforts are inspiring, construction cannot advance beyond the current stage without essential materials and financial support. The need for assistance remains urgent and unchanged. Key requirements include cement and sand for mortar, reliable water supply for mixing and construction, skilled labor to guide and complete building work, roofing materials and timber, sanitation facilities, classroom furniture and learning materials. Without these critical resources, progress will remain stalled at the brick-making phase.
This project is about more than just constructing a building; it is about shaping the future of an entire generation. Once completed, the school will: Provide safe and adequate classrooms, improve sanitation, safety, and overall learning conditions, create space for play and social development, expand access to quality early childhood education for more children.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported this project so far through time, effort, or encouragement. At this stage, however, continued and increased support is critical. We are actively seeking donors, partners, and well-wishers who can help us move from preparation to construction. Your contribution, whether financial, material, or technical can make a tangible difference in turning this vision into reality.
