This project will help Gifted Community Center (GCC), a youth-led organization with disabilities, recover after a devastating fire destroyed both its offices and its community business and leadership hub. These spaces were central to GCC's work, supporting youth with disabilities to earn livelihoods and providing a safe haven for survivors of gender-based violence. Funds raised will rebuild accessible spaces, restore lost equipment, and continue creating pathways to dignified independent living.
A recent fire completely destroyed GCC's offices and their business hub, burning all furniture, equipment, records, and assistive tools. The business leadership hub was a vital source of income for youth with disabilities and a trusted safe space for survivors of gender-based violence seeking support and protection. The loss of both spaces has disrupted livelihoods, halted programming, and removed a critical anchor of safety and stability for the community.
This project will support GCC to rebuild both an accessible office and a functional business hub. Funds will replace furniture, assistive devices, tools, and basic technology needed to restart the youth with disability led hub and community services. With Warande's support as a fiscal and storytelling partner, resources will be mobilized quickly and transparently, allowing youth with disabilities to lead the recovery and restore services that sustain dignity, safety, and independence.
Rebuilding GCC's office and business hub ensures long-term continuity of disability-led livelihoods and protection services. Restored spaces will enable youth with disabilities to regain income, leadership, and independence, while re-establishing a safe haven for survivors of gender-based violence. This investment strengthens community resilience, protects hard-won progress toward inclusion, and ensures that the crisis does not erase community-led solutions.
