As we are optimistic about the decrease numbers of the corona virus, we have families who are still being affected due to the pandemic. I would like to share a story of a single mother of (2) two who needed assistance. She worked as a house help and was able to provide for her family. However, two years later, she is still finding it hard to care for her family's basic needs. Due to the pandemic, she is no longer a house help and does not get enough houses to clean to make ends meet. She told us that people are still skeptical about having others in their homes. This mother was down on her luck, and has been for quite sometime. Her utilities were about to be disconnected and she was two months behond on her rent. With your donoation, we were able to assist this mother with her rent and utilities that were in arrears, we were able to partner with the foodbank to provide produce and took the family to the grocery store to gather protien options and snacks for the children. Greene Lamp with the help of GlobalGiving donors, were able to ensure that this family was able to stay in their home and assisted with their basic needs. Greene Lamp has paired this mother with a case manager to assist with job hunting, interview skills and the possibility of gaining new soft skills for a the job market. We are always here to assist and give a hand up. This mother of two is currently taking courses to be more marketable for jobs that are currently in need of emplyees. We are still helping families in our communities and now we look ahead and ask, "what does progress looks like after the pandemic?" This mother is the epitome of Pandemic to Progress.
