Over the past few years, the Reading Aunties project has brought joy, confidence, and literacy support to many young children in our communities. We are incredibly grateful for the generous support we’ve received from donors like you, who made it possible for our Aunties to nurture a love of reading in early learners across Limpopo.
During the past quarter, our team focused on identifying a new site to extend the impact of the Reading Aunties model. We successfully engaged with a local school that showed great promise and commitment to strengthening early literacy skills among their learners. These conversations and preliminary groundwork laid the foundation for a potential expansion of the project.
However, due to a shift in funding priorities and the conclusion of our USAID grant, CHoiCe Trust is now realigning its focus to ensure we can continue delivering the greatest possible impact with the resources available. While the Reading Aunties project will no longer be featured on the GlobalGiving platform, we remain deeply committed to the children and families we serve.
Going forward, we will be using our GlobalGiving presence to support our Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) programme, which continues to provide vital psychosocial support, health education, and developmental services to children in need across the region.
We see this as a natural evolution of our work, and we hope you will continue this journey with us. The heart of the Reading Aunties project—our dedication to children’s wellbeing and growth—remains central to everything we do.
Thank you for believing in the power of stories, learning, and community.
