In Pakistan, where many persons with disabilities (PWDs) and members of the Deaf community face not only social exclusion but also severe economic hardship, DWAF is committed to bringing relief and dignity through small but meaningful steps.
With the kind support of our donors, DWAF successfully distributed rashan hampers to over 150 deserving families of Deaf and PWD individuals across various low-income areas in Punjab and Sindh. Each hamper included basic food staples such as atta, daal, chawal, cheeni, cooking oil, and soap — items that help a family get through the month with some ease.
One of the recipients, Sana Bibi from Lahore, a Deaf young woman caring for her parents, expressed her deep gratitude through sign language: “This ration is a lifeline for us. Thank you for remembering us when others don’t.” Moments like these remind us why inclusive aid is essential.
In many of these homes, one or more family members are unemployed due to lack of accessible job opportunities. Through this project, we not only provide food support but also raise awareness on disability rights and inclusion. Our team, including trained Deaf volunteers, helped with the distributions and served as role models in their communities.
This effort was carried out during the holy month of Ramzan and continued post-Eid, when families needed support the most. We are grateful to all our donors for their compassion and belief in our cause.
With your ongoing support, DWAF plans to extend this initiative to more districts, especially in remote areas where support rarely reaches. We are also working toward long-term empowerment through skill training and inclusive employment programs.
Together, we can build a more inclusive Pakistan — one step, one family at a time.
Shukriya from all of us at DWAF!
