Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your continuing support to our initiative improving the biodiversity of our rainforest. In our interaction with farmers during field visits and in providing technical assistance to them, we found out that there is a hesitancy to plant and grow trees because they need to get income in the short term. We try solving this situation by advocating the growing of vegetables together with the planting and care of trees because they can derive immediate income from the vegetable harvest. With the tree growing we focus our effort to let farmers grow trees that give fruit and provide them with immediate income. So in this case we promote the growing of mulberry for example because it grows well in the area and in 6 months farmers can already harvest fruits and make this into jam, wine and sell as fresh fruits. We convinced 12 farmers to do this system and hoping we will be able to gain more adopters. Thank you very much.
Very sincerely yours,
Jed Christian Sayre
