An update on Goonj's ongoing efforts

We are continuing our efforts in the flood affected areas of North East, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Bihar.

As on Sept 2nd, 26 big trucks of material with a large quantity of family kits, dry ration, tarpaulins, blankets, utensils, toiletries etc. have been sent from our Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Rishikesh centers .. other centers are also gearing up.

GOONJ dignifies the relief and rehab. work in disasters.. Loss of basic infrastructure in disasters often brings life to a standstill. People are engaged in rebuilding damaged roads and bridges, cleaning water bodies and then receive comprehensive family kits with dignity.

This time, floods are widespread in multiple states and the need is much more. In the next phase, with winters ahead and the larger work of rebuilding damaged local infrastructure much more monetary and material resources are needed.

Our initial plan is to reach out to 75000 families  (approx. 500,000 people)  in  the affected areas. The immediate need is- dry ration, blankets, tarpaulins, mosquito nets, utensils, buckets, solar lights & kids clothing apart from money for essential purchases, transportation and other logistics.

Do spread the word..
