BAZNAS (Indonesia’s National Amil Zakat Agency), in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, has launched a nationwide distribution of daging Dam (meat from hajj sacrifice) to support the nutritional needs of vulnerable communities across Indonesia. At a symbolic launch event held at the BAZNAS RI office in Jakarta, BAZNAS and Minister of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. KH. Nasaruddin Umar inaugurated the program with a commitment to enhancing community welfare through socially impactful use of Dam contributions. A total of 211,075 ready-to-eat meat pouches have been prepared and are being distributed to 42,215 mustahik (eligible recipients) in seven provinces including West Java, Banten, Central Java, East Java, South Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and North Sumatra. This initiative represents an innovative approach to managing Dam locally—ensuring it is Shari’ah-compliant, regulatory safe, and beneficial within Indonesia—so that the blessing of hajj can directly reach those in need.
In support of this mission, the meat is hygienically processed and packaged in 1-kg pouches ready for consumption, making it highly practical and accessible for families facing food insecurity. The Instagram coverage highlights how these packaged meals are being handed out in communities, providing a dignified form of food assistance and helping improve overall nutrition among low-income households. Through this campaign, GlobalGiving donors can help BAZNAS scale up distribution, reach more vulnerable groups and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality protein to families who need it most, especially during periods of economic hardship or seasonal scarcity
