Purchase Motorbikes to Reach Remote Villages

Greetings generous donors,

Thank you once more for your support in funding the purchase of two motorbikes to reach remote villages in Liberia for our teams to spread Ebola awareness and prevention supplies.

In May, GlobalGiving awarded everyday gandhis a $70,000 grant to continue its' Phase Two Ebola Prevention and Recovery work. Our philanthropic partners have instilled their trust in us to preserve community cohesion, healing, and to provide long-term healthcare support to various communities in Liberia. Due to this much needed money, we were able to re-appropriate the use of other funds to complete the purchase of our motorbikes.

Since recieiving the bikes in early May, we have been able to add several schools and clinics in remote regions to our donation list, bringing medical and sanitation supplies, Ebola awareness events and mourning ceremonies to vulnerable border communties. We continued Phase Three of everyday gandhis Ebola awareness and prevention following the distribution of ICE materials to ten schools-- four in Voinjama District, three in Foya District and three in Kolahun District. Additional donations of medical drugs were made to five clinics, one in Voinjama District, two in Kolahun District and two in Foya District. These clinics are close to the borders of Sierra Leone and Guinea where people cross to Liberia daily, making them vulnerable regions for a re-transmittance of the Ebola virus.

The awareness events covered four political districts (Quardu Gboni, Kolahun, Foya and Voinjama). Our message to the communities was to continue the Ebola preventive methods even though Liberia has been declared Ebola free, especially since Guinea and Sierra Leone are still reporting low numbers of the disease.

Overall, the communities were very happy to see us with hygiene materials and medical drugs. Community dwellers enthusiastically expressed their appreciation for everyday gandhis work throughout the Ebola crisis. Testimonials from affected nurses include:
