No child should have to carry the heavy emotional trauma of war. The Olena Zelenska Foundation funds psychosocial camp programs - from summer psychological recovery shifts to specialized inclusive day camps - to provide children affected by war and children with severe disabilities safe environments to heal, socialize, and thrive.
Challenge The war has inflicted deep emotional trauma, anxiety, and toxic stress on Ukrainian children. Displaced, grieving or living under constant attacks, they face severe distress. Children with disabilities are especially vulnerable as specialized support systems collapse. Without targeted psychosocial support and safe spaces to recover, this acute stress risks causing long-term psychological damage, robbing children of a healthy childhood.
Solution With its specialized residential and inclusive day camps the Olena Zelenska Foundation helps war-affected children and children with severe disabilities process trauma. Through professional psychological therapy, art sessions, and fully accessible environments, these summer camp programs restore emotional stability, peer connection, and a sense of safety, giving children back their childhood. Psychologists, trauma educators, and 1-on-1 assistants allow offering spots to more children.
To date, the Foundation has funded 47 camp shifts, providing essential recovery and care to over 5,200 children. These results prove that structured support effectively helps war-affected youth heal from trauma and overcome isolation. Your support directly enables us to scale these proven camp programs, expanding both residential recovery shifts and inclusive day camps across regions to reach significantly more vulnerable children who critically need psychological relief and socialization.
