In Spain, one out of every three children and adolescents is at risk of poverty or social exclusion and faces obstacles that hinder their stability and negatively affect their mental health.
In homes exposed to a continuous situation of lack of resources and socioeconomic difficulties, stressful situations are frequently experienced, sometimes chronic stress, which makes children especially vulnerable to mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression or behavioral problems, among others. In addition, in these homes there are fewer resources available to access therapeutic care.
For SOS Children's Villages, prevention, evaluation and early care are key because they make it possible to reduce the psychological effects of the difficulties experienced and avoid future problems. "It is important to point out that this is valid for all children and adolescents, although it is even more important in the case of those in a situation of special vulnerability because they are facing particularly complicated situations.
