Ready and Waiting: Continued Engagement with Albas

By Abdirisak Ibrahim | SSI Program Coordinator

Dear Donors,

We are grateful for your continued belief in our mission to bring Hope Kits to 200 blind children at Albasar Boarding School. As of today, we have raised $85 toward our $9,200 goal. While this remains a small portion, we have not stopped working behind the scenes.

Since our last report in March, our team has maintained regular engagement with the school and the community. We have continued to strengthen our relationship with the school administration, ensuring that the beneficiary list remains accurate and that we are fully prepared to act the moment funding is secured. Local suppliers remain ready to provide warm clothing, sturdy shoes, hygiene kits, and blankets at the quoted prices. We have also finalized the holiday meal menu in coordination with the school kitchen staff, so that when the time comes, we can move quickly.

A Continuing Story

Hawa, the 12-year-old girl we shared in our last report, continues to ask about the project. She reminds us that even small gestures matter to children who have so little. Her question to our field coordinator recently was simple: "Will the holiday meal really happen this year?"

We hope to answer yes.

What We Are Waiting For

The project is now fully prepared for implementation. All planning is complete. What remains is the funding to turn these plans into reality. We need:

  • Warm sweaters and sturdy shoes to keep children healthy and in school
  • Hygiene supplies to prevent illness and infection
  • Braille learning materials to support their education
  • A holiday meal to restore dignity and joy

Call to Action

We are now more than ever reliant on our community of supporters. Please consider sharing our project with your network. Even a small donation or a simple share can bring us closer to turning Hawa's hope into reality. Together, we can give these children a December they will never forget.

Thank you for standing with us.
