Following the devastating earthquake on April 25th, Real Medicine Foundation (RMF) was engaged in various relief works in Nepal. We provided relief support in the amount of almost $40,000.00, including:
In this regards, we are committed to work in Nepal for a longer period of time through the implementation of various projects in collaboration with the government agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders. We have already started supporting reconstruction of schools ( 6 completed) in Sindhupalchowk and Gorkha ( 1 completed). We are providing 2,064 students with afternoon meals to improve attendance that dropped drastically after the earthquake in Sindhupalchowk. We will also be taking over and running a health clinic in Gorkha (completely destroyed and in the process of closing its services) to cater to the critical medical needs of the communities from remote villages.
Currently, we are also supporting the national orphanage, where the children lost their homes during the earthquake and are now forced to live in crammed temporary shelters. We aim to improve health and hygiene conditions of the children through provision of trained staff nurses, medical and other essential supplies and addressing the psycho- social needs of the children as well as staffs through trainings and workshops.
We would like to also take this opportunity to thank all the supporters, volunteers and collaborators who came in together at this time of need to provide immedite and longer term support and relief to those affected by the disaster.
