NYF’s Vocational Education & Career Counseling (VECC) program helps some of the most disadvantaged youth in Nepal become economically independent. Much of the labor force in Nepal is largely unskilled, and unemployment among young adults is around 35%. The need for vocational education & career counseling is at an all-time high, and we’re so thankful that we have your support!
Congratulations to our 7th group of trainees!
In mid-May, 80 students graduated from Olgapuri Vocational School (OVS). After 3 months of training in electrical, welding, carpentry, or plumbing trades, the graduates will now return to work in their own communities at jobs that pay well.
Thanks to NYF’s partnership with local communities, 42 of the 80 graduates hail from one rural municipality, Chaurpati. The Chairman of Chaurpati was able to attend the ceremony, and thanked NYF’s vocational training program for empowering the community’s youth and preparing them for employment.
These graduates are our 7th group of trainees from OVS – and are all on a bright path to independently support themselves and their families. A big thank you to everyone who made it possible!
